Jumping frogs and a splash of Japanese cultureAt
OLR, our Year 2–6 students don’t just learn Japanese, they experience it! To celebrate Japan’s Rainy Season (Tsuyu), Sensei guided the children (using Japanese instructions) to fold their own origami frogs.
With bright origami paper and plenty of concentration, the students were so proud to see their frogs come to life and even hop!
Learning Japanese at OLR is about more than words, it’s about exploring culture in fun and memorable ways.

National Science Week at OLR
Our Year 3s brought the wow factor on Tuesday with their very own Science Fair and what a sight it was!
From exploding volcanoes

, lava lamps

, dancing popcorn

, rockets

, and of course… SLIME (oh, the slime!)

the creativity and curiosity on display was truly inspiring.
It was a fantastic celebration of science, full of hands-on experiments, big smiles and plenty of “ooohs” and “aaahs.” We’re so proud of our Year 3 students for their hard work and enthusiasm in making this an enjoyable experience for all.

Giraffes Can’t Dance
"We can all dance," he said, "when we find music that we love."
Year 1 have been exploring the beloved story Giraffes Can’t Dance as part of their literacy unit, discovering the power of perseverance and believing in yourself.
Inspired by Gerald’s journey, our young artists have brought him to life, using pastels and mixed media to create stunning scenes of Gerald dancing in the moonlight.

Swipe through to see their beautiful artwork – a reminder that with the right rhythm, we can all shine!
